How Much is My Diamond Ring Worth? (Real Resale Value)

One of the most common questions we get is, "I bought this ring for $3,000, why is the pawn shop offering me only $400?" The truth is, jewelry has a huge markup. When you sell, you are usually paid for the raw materials: the Gold Melt Value and the Wholesale Diamond Value.

Our Jewelry Value Calculator helps you estimate the fair cash price for your engagement rings, necklaces, and earrings so you don't get ripped off by dealers.

πŸ“ How to Use This Calculator:

  • Step 1 (The Gold): Weigh your item in grams. Check the stamp (10k, 14k, 18k) and select it from the list.
  • Step 2 (The Diamond): Check your appraisal or the inside of the band for the "Carat Weight" (e.g., 0.50ct or 1.0ct).
  • Step 3 (The Quality): Be honest! Most mall-bought jewelry has "Good/Average" diamonds. Only high-end brands (Tiffany, Cartier) use "Excellent" stones.

Why is the "Appraisal Value" So High?

Insurance appraisals are often inflated by 100% or more. They represent the cost to replace the ring at full retail price, not the cash you will get for selling it. Use our tool to find the Liquidation Value (Cash Today).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

❓ Does the calculator include the brand value?
No. This tool calculates the Intrinsic Value (Gold + Diamonds). If you have a signed piece from a luxury brand like Tiffany & Co. or Cartier, you should sell it to a specialized collector, as it will be worth much more than just the materials.
❓ How do I know the carat weight of my diamond?
Look inside the band of the ring. You might see numbers like "0.50" or "1.00". If there is no number, you can measure the diameter in millimeters: 4mm is roughly 0.25ct, 5mm is 0.50ct, and 6.5mm is 1.00ct.
❓ Will Pawn Shops pay for small diamonds?
Usually, no. Dealers often pay only for the gold weight and consider small "melee" diamonds (chips) as zero value because they are hard to resell. Our calculator gives you a value for the center stone (0.20ct and larger).
❓ What is the best place to sell a diamond ring?
Avoid pawn shops if possible. You will usually get a better price selling privately on platforms like eBay, or to specialized online jewelry buyers who pay for the diamond quality, not just the scrap gold.
